Samantha & Josh | A Winter Wedding at the Shawnee Country Club

This wedding was the perfect ending to an off year, and so i’m making it the perfect start to a fresh new year with their blog! My couples this year were courageous, graceful, kind, strong, and so much more.

I had already known how hard Sam & Josh have already been working so incredibly hard throughout Medical School, but to be thrown a pandemic while in medical school as well as throwing a wedding! With many changes along the way, wedding day had arrived! Sam was  bright and clearly full of joy when I saw her for the first time. Eager to help, gentle reminders to sit back and relax- enjoy these moments of tranquil before the hustle and bustle began!

Samantha was excited to see her groom for the first time! He was equally ecstatic! Snow lightly covered the ground, the wind cold. But a moment just them, a moment to take each other in.

We headed off to their ceremony and although the seats were not filled and their was plenty of love and excitement that filled the church! One of my favorite things about Sammie is her laugh! It is loud, but joyful and filled the church and reception abundantly.

Their wedding party was so fun and you can tell lots of good times takes place between them all! Josh looked so dapper in his black on black tux. Sammie, wow! She was radiant! Her stunning dress was the perfect compliment to her radiant smile! She stood out like a winter queen against her girls in a winter red.

These winter weddings go a lot like, quick short sessions shooting, a little break for some warming up and back at it! This whole crew took the cold weather like champs. We ended their portraits much like we ended their engagement session, in winter coats!

The reception space was grand, despite tables being spread apart. The Christmas tree was an incredible backdrop, classy winter wedding. Reds, greens and whites, golds. They watched a video with family and friends that couldn’t make it, laughed and teared up. They shared in the sweetest dances, where I originally thought that maybe Sammie & Josh took some dance classes where I imagined them spending hours dancing in a living room studying as they counted steps. But then I watched Sammie dance with her father and realized that she either learned from the first important man in her life, or she has some incredibly dedicated men in her life!!

The whole day was magical! I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed spending the day with Sammie, Josh and the most important people in their lives. I couldn’t have wrapped up 2020 any better than with this wedding and I’m so excited the first part of 2021 is starting with sharing this beautiful day!
