Newborn Session | What’s best for you?

One of the most common questions I have been asked over the years is what newborn session is best for us? Or even, what’s the difference in these collections?

I’m hoping this helps lay out all the details of each session for you and will help you make the decision in navigating what session is best for you! I’ve got to find a graph of sorts to share. I totally understand why it can be confusing- there are so many different scenarios.

Here are the three types of sessions I offer: Petite Collection, Keepsake Collection, & Lux Collection.

The Petite Collection can be broken into three types of sessions. Posed studio newborn, In studio lifestyle session or in your home lifestyle session.

A posed newborn session is hands on posing on the beanbag & in props. The family portion of this session can be done on a backdrop with studio lights or in my lifestyle room with natural light. The family posing with these two sessions are very basic. Think, “Look at me and smile, look at baby” Here are some examples.

with the posed studio family portion, these image are almost always roughly cropped to be from the chest up.

With a petite session you can also book sessions that are completely lifestyle sessions.

A lifestyle newborn is very laid back, no formal posing and more “family” oriented and interactive. Otherwise it would just be a lot of photos of baby on their back or belly. Photos in your home also capture details of their nursery space.

A lifestyle newborn can be photographed in your home or my studio. The photos attached are examples of what that would look like.

The family photos in lifestyle sessions are more interactive, more “moment based” and allow a creative take on life with your baby.

Here are examples of the petite lifestyle sessions.

Moving on to the Keepsake Collection:

The keepsake collection is what I like to think of as the best of both worlds. These are two separate sessions.

You get the posed studio (this is baby only) and a lifestyle session either in your home or my studio that is more interactive, more connective and moment filled.

This is almost two full sessions at a discounted rate.

I have found that a lot of people have started opting for this because the studio sessions are long and extensive. Parents don’t want to stress about having littles there and entertaining or even if dads are less than enthusiastic about being there because its long and hot. Moms often will get dropped off with baby and have some time to sit and relax while I do all the work.

Attached is an example of a keepsake session with an in-home family session. Studio sessions are always photographed first as I have a small 14ish day window to get these sessions done.

The Lux Collection is a baby only studio session, family focused lifestyle session (Your home or my studio)  and a 1-2 minute family film. This session also includes a full gallery upgrade from both sessions.

I hope this helps clear up the difference between sessions and helps you figure out what is best for you!
